I made a cake.

I made a cake., originally uploaded by qwrrty.

Banana cake with cream cheese frosting. From the Silver Palate cookbook. A little uneven on the frosting but it's a two-layer cake and by god I made it myself.

I honestly think that things like uneven frosting make homemade items more appealing -- because it makes them look homemade and that in itself has an effect. I also feel this way about package wrapping, by the way -- too perfect of a package doesn't have the same loving emanation.

In other words: Yum.

Oh, I definitely feel that way about cake! And I love cream cheese frosting more than just about anything else in the world, so that cake leaps off of the page to me and forces me to comment on it.

I'm kind of anal about wrapping presents, though.

Wanna come and wrap some of ours? We're terrible at it and have a bunch of stuff to do.

The cake, OTOH, looks quite nice. How did it taste?
