Now I know I must be in Provincetown.

My friend Jen gives the following gloss on history: The Puritans first landed in Provincetown. They looked around - "too gay!" they said, and proceeded on to Plymouth Rock.

(Actually based on fact, but the real reason, according to Wikipedia, was that they had failed to secure a proper site for their settlement, and feared that they had angered the local Native Americans by robbing their corn stores and firing upon them. (Perceptive folks, eh?))

Oh, and have I mentioned that you rock?

We actually discussed this this weekend, but my theory was that the Pilgrims hit Provincetown, all the gay Pilgrims got out and set up shop, and the rest of them headed on to Plymouth and built streets named things like Federal Furnace Road and Gunners Exchange Road.

Well, it made sense at the time.
