It took me about 5-6 hours (with breaks) to put together by myself, which seems like a lot but I didn't really mind at all. A considerable amount of that was carefully reading the instructions and diagrams to make sure I was doing it right, which is often not clear. But once it's all assembled it seems pretty sturdy. We'll let you know how it holds up after 6 mos or so. :-)

We're headed toward bunk beds for the girls, so I'll be doing likewise in the next year or two.
