chiropractor recommendations

Woke up this morning to moderate back pain.  Not too bad, probably a 3 or 4 out of 10, but unusual -- back pain is uncommon with me.

Boston-area folks, any recommendations for a chiropractor who takes Blue Cross?  The closer to Kendall Square the better, but I'll take referrals for practices in the hinterlands too.

Edit: Thanks all. I did in fact end up going with [livejournal.com profile] keyne's chiropractor after she persuaded me not to attempt going in to work. Which was probably good, as it turns out I have a strained rib joint. Who knew?

My favorite guy ever is in Bedford, and I also like the woman i have been seeing here in Natick. If you want either referral let me know.

I've sworn over and over about my guy (http://diamondchiropractic.com/doctor/chiropractor/8L/boston-chiropractor/contact-us.htm), who did wonders for me. So much so that I paid out of pocket; I'm not sure if he takes Blue Cross but you can ask. He's a bit on the 'rah rah sports guy' side of verbal delivery, which initially put me off, but he totally knows his stuff as far as I'm concerned. He was one of the many reasons I was really sorry to leave Boston.

If you do talk to him, tell him I sent you. He might not remember me right off, but I would hope he did after reviewing my file.

This might not have been my post originally, but I now have an appointment with your guy tomorrow morning, so thanks. :)

Hey, COOL. Tell him I said hi and that I *still* do the Static Back Press every night. He'll understand. (and my back is doing great!)

If/when we return to Boston, I'm totally going to him again if he has any room in his schedule. That alone should be a decent testimonial. I would suggest that you give it a few sessions to see if it works for you (unless you're already familiar with chiro and need no convincing). Don't expect the changes to take hold immediately; it takes time for the new bone positions to stabilise and the muscles need to get used to not pulling in the wrong directions. Lots of folks think that an adjustment should fix things for good the first time. They don't get how the body works, sadly.

Keep me posted?

I'll tell him! :)

I'm not expecting miracles the first time, though I'm at least hoping to feel *better*. Terry loved her chiro down there in NC, and if we like this guy (and your recommendation counts for a whole lot), then she'll go to him. I'm really hoping this'll help my gettin'-old back feel better. (And of course I'll keep you posted!)

There's a guy who works in the same office as E's chiro (in West Concord) who did a nice job straightening out my neck issues last year. For that matter, E's guy sounds like a magician, though he's usually very booked.

Yep. I made him an appt., since the office takes our insurance and everything :)

Got nothing to offer in town, but closer to home, I have had good luck with both Drs. Robichaud and Symko at the Concord Chiropractic in west concord.

in boston, not cambridge, but we like dr melman at http://www.melmanchirogroup.com/. and [livejournal.com profile] farwing praises him, too.

Just in case you still care, I like Knight Chiropractic (http://www.drtimknight.com) in Arlington.
