ZOMG, could you send me a copy of that flowchart? I want that for my office!

I'll see if I can track down the original. Failing that, I'll scan this one.

The flowchart is wrong; the arrow from "Rinse briefly" should point to the top of "Is there coffee/tea gunk on mug?".

Either there or into "Is dishwasher running?" I think I'd have it point at "Is dishwasher running?" because if the person isn't competent to rinse off the coffee/tea gunk the first time, they're probably not going to manage it the second or third time either. Of course, you could also include another step between them "Is this the third time you've reached this step on the same mug/glass" and have a Yes answer point to "Attend remedial dish rinsing training."

You people are the reason why this document is at version 1.2.

Friend of Points here...

http://duckhunter.livejournal.com/283675.html - My dishwasher problems.

And I may steal (and modify) that flow chart. But I fear that the results will be the same as yours.

Ah, the beauty of inevitability.

And yet we still fight.

Also inevitable. :)

Seriously? You're very lucky. First, you have a dishwasher. (My office doesn't have a sink, we used the bathroom. With the inevitable occasionally disastrous results.) Second, you have a cleaning staff. (We have to clean our own spaces, the service does the common spaces only.) Third, your cleaning staff will deal with dishwasher contents. (Never had that.)

We manage to keep our kitchen cubicle clean anyway.

The PI of the lab which shares our kitchen deals with this problem by summarily throwing away any dishes left out and dirty.
