a fitting end to the day

After work, ran some errands and then ran back down Broadway to pick up my stuff from the office and head home. Literally ran down the street. Which was apparently not such a great move, as I ran into a low-hanging tree branch at full speed. Found myself suddenly sprawled on the sidewalk with great stabbing pains shooting through my head.

Picked myself up and walked back to the office with blood running from my forehead all down my face. My appearance seemed to freak out the other people on the street, as I noticed most of them give me a wide berth. My co-worker Jboss found some alcohol wipes and Neosporin, and helped me clean up in the bathroom.

I'm okay now except for the insane headache, but really, all I can think is -- how appropriate that I should choose this day to brain myself in such a stupid fashion.

I have more coherent thoughts (honest!) on how to proceed in our new pre-apocalyptic era, but they'll have to wait for just a bit.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. I have some of my own percolating. But I'm still swinging wildly between "there is a way out! We have to do this, & this, & this..." & "We're doomed. 84% of Americans believe in ghosts in the clouds. My country hates me & we're all gonna die." so I don't think I'm quite ready to be rational & forward-looking yet.
