bringing 'em up right

This afternoon Morgan wanted to see a new movie.  A few months ago I had picked up The Bad News Bears (I am sentimentally fond of this movie in that inexplicable way), so I put it on for him. After about ten minutes Morgan announced that the movie was stupid, and asked to turn it off. I persuaded him to sit through another ten minutes, but he was quite clear about what he thought of it, and we turned it off.

Late tonight, he got up—long after I thought he had fallen asleep—and wandered out to the living room, where I had just put on Five Easy Pieces.  He watched it for about half an hour before falling asleep, and though he didn't understand the movie, it was clear from his questions and comments that he was engaged and found it much more interesting.

By god I'm proud of that boy.

At least tell me it was the original Bad New Bears and not the recent remake with Billy Bob Thorton.

Of course now I want toast.

Yes, it was the original Bad News Bears, with Walter Matthau (rest in peace, buddy).

I haven't seen the remake but I'm tempted to. I actually like Billy Bob Thornton a lot.
