I knew I was in trouble when...

Actual, unretouched photograph of the replacement laptop keyboard I received from a cut-rate wholesaler:

QWRRTY

A little white-out, and you'll be able to fix things just fine.

I have two F12s on my keyboard, one where F5 should be.

The QWRRTY is the least of my problems with this keyboard. The fundamental problem is that it's the wrong model for this laptop, so the pipe and backtick keys don't work. Ironically, Dell sells the (supposedly) correct model keyboard at about half the price that the no-name clone manufacturer was asking. We'll see when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

Clearly, you failed to buy a vowel, and lost your turn at the Wheel.

Aagh! I better dump line editing as a career, because I missed that, even when I looked down on my own keyboard to compare. :/

Hope your wife noticed right off. She might as well take what little freelance work I have...

He hadn't shown it to me before he posted :)

Oddly enough, my iBook keyboard (on which I'm typing this) has a blank key between the QW and the RTY. Go figure.

Huh! That key is the most frequently-used letter in the language, too! What are the odds? :-) :-)

It's gotta be odd; you can't spell "even" without the E.

[identity profile] spunkywulf.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it at least FUNCTION as an "E" or do you truly have 2 "D"'s to love? :D

It's actually an E. The bozos at the plant just put an R keycap over it.

Did the wholesaler happen to be the Pirate Express?

Irritable Vowel Syndrome, methinks.
