picketing breakfast, originally uploaded by qwrrty.

Dad is not very good at listening and Quinn has begun picketing the kitchen to make sure we get the message.

What *does* he like in his oatmeal?

Why on earth would you put milk in oatmeal?

(I sometimes like a dollop of butter for richness, but oatmeal + a bit of brown sugar is my preferred configuration.)

I'm with Quinn. Ew... Milk in oatmeal?
Much better with a drizzle of maple syrup or sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. :)

Agreed: Oatmeal with brown sugar and a pat of butter at most. Anything else, with the possible exception of raisins, is just wrong.

Your son is very strange. Oatmeal should have brown sugar, a splotch of milk, raisins and (now we are getting optional) banana. Or be put into bread.

Actually I like a bit of granola in my oatmeal as well as a bit of brown sugar n- so that's mostly oats, nuts, and raisins. We had some this morning because I forgot to buy milk for the cold cereal.

To cool it down! That's how his brother likes it, since by the time they both get to breakfast in the morning they have about ten minutes to eat and still make the school bus :)

That's Q's writing. He had to ask how to spell "milk" and "oatmeal", though :)

This is instant oatmeal, so it already has maple and brown sugar in it. :) The milk (which M likes) isn't so much in it as on it, to cool it down so it can be eaten before the school bus arrives.

I'm with Quinn. Oatmeal requires no milk. We make "instant" oatmeal. When I have time I repackage the cardboard tub of oatmeal into plastic baggies. The baggies also get sugar or splenda, and bits of freeze dried fruit. We go light on the water when it gets microwaved and add ice cubes to cool it down enough to eat.

Awww, that's so cute!! It's important to stand up for what you believe in. That's where I got my username, because I believe that we all ought to get some free cookies! Now!

Just brown sugar and maple or cinnamon. Kid doesn't even appreciate raisins or blueberries. (shakes head)

Ask him if he'd like pickles. [profile] tyrannio likes pickles in his oatmeal.

I make my oatmeal with soymilk instead of water. (Sometimes I use skim milk, but I can't deal with much milk in a day).

I will add fruit (apples or bananas are nice), nuts (pecans or walnuts), and maple syrup or honey.

Yum!

See, I agree with all of this (except that I always prefer real milk to soy milk, and the more fat the better). I don't get all these oatmeal purists. Buncha weirdos.

Oh god, I think he might take us up on it.

We would have to be careful to offer this only at a time when Morgan is not at the table. If he even heard about it, he might swear off ever eating oatmeal again.

Yeah, no milk in oatmeal unless it is cooked into it. Soggy bleah.

Hmmm. I see "NOMILK INMYOATMEAL" and I read, "MOM I LIKE IN MY OATMEAL" Look at the photo again. Should know if he spelled "Oatmeal" he wouldn't say "LK" for Like.

Now, how do I leave a comment? Am I Anonymous? I'm Tim's dad. I think I have an account. I'll choose that and see... ah... well, I did have to have my password reset.

Yeiks! Now I have to have my email validated! I'll NEVER get this posted...
