a home is not a home without bookshelves
Jul. 30th, 2003 01:32 amCan you believe that we have not had enough shelf space to store all our books since 1997? After leaving Chicago and our magnificent 57th St. Bookshelf cases, we moved to a succession of houses that all came up short in shelving, and never added enough shelves to accommodate our library.
But finally, thanks to the stellar handiwork of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
quiet_elegance, we have a library again. A proper library, with wall-to-wall bookshelves on three walls and a window seat. Just fitting the shelves into place tonight, even before putting up any books, made the place feel more like a home than it has in the last two years. (Pictures forthcoming.)
Now to unpack the 3,000 or so books that currently fill the living room. But that is a small matter in comparison, really.
