Brattleboro travelogue

As promised, ride diary and pictures from my bike trip to Brattleboro. Read all about the fortified encampments in Winchester, the jaded New Hampshire shopkeepers, and the undiscovered mysteries of the Sugar House. Find out what's cool to do in Ashburnham, and the really awesome milestone I reached.

(Note to folks on slower connections: that page has about 180K of thumbnails on it. Sorry. I shrank them down as much as I could.)

Dude. WOW. Yes, you can impress somebody these days - I AM!

Thanks for the interesting travelogue and pictures. I was actually at Fort Drummer State Park in July for PolyCampCon... nice place, eh?

Wonderful! Now we know you're M2K compatible.

Perhaps for our British viewers you may want to clarify the term 'bonking'.

Although they'd believe you were ready to do so. Most think you are ready to do so at the drop of a hat.

Not to mention that "perilously" is not a term I normally apply to that activity.

Anyway, "bonking", for any of my poor provincial not-acquainted-with-American-jock-slang friends (if I have any) who may be reading this, is a term U.S. athletes use to describe what happens to your body when it runs completely out of fuel. When your muscles are completely depleted of glycogen, you get suddenly exhausted, headachy, sometimes nauseated -- generally feel like hammered shit. It's pretty unpleasant. Eat your peanut butter.

Ashburnham is the site of a historical Piano museum (http://www.ashburnham.org/Frederickcollection/) located in an old library building. I've never been to it, but want to go one of these days.

But apparently it's not on Route 119. That's how they fooled me.

Nifty!

There's a Pisgah in CT as well.

I am majorly impressed. Ilana and I were in Brattleboro just this past weekend - that's where our bus to VT dropped us off.
