Anyone care to recommend a Boston local bike shop (fsvo "local") that has SPD-compatible sandals in stock? Especially for guys with big feet?

REI has some Keen sandals but no longer has any size 12s in stock. I tried at a couple of LBSs today and neither of them carried cycling sandals at all. (The guy at Back Bay Bicycle, amusingly, said he'd never even heard of them and thought it sounded like a terrible idea.) I'd prefer to buy locally so I can try them on if possible (a wise move given how much I regret buying cheapo sandals from Nashbar last year), and I'd prefer to buy from an independent shop whenever possible.

... sold me both my pairs of Shimano SD60 sandals (they still had some in stock years after the SD65 came out). Presumably they have the newer models too.

Harris Cyclery might have them. SD66 is listed on their website.

I bought mine at Quad Cycles in Arlington, MA, but I'd like to get a new, different style, so if you find some place that has a bunch of them, let me know, or maybe we go together.

I'll give Harris a call. Belmont didn't have Shimano sandals, and I did not fall in love with either the Keen or the Lake sandals on first tryout.

I just realized that the SD66 is different from the controversial SD65 that came out a couple of years ago, and it goes back to the two-strap design that we loved so much. Have you tried them?

Note that I have a pair of shimano sd-65's in your size that I could have let you try on over the weekend had I known you were looking. I love them and wear them year round. I bought them some number of years ago at ace wheelworks. I don't know who stocks what anymore so I'm really no help to you though.

Hah! I should have thought of that. I didn't get the SD-65s after my 60s wore out because the 65s got very mixed reviews, but maybe that was a mistake. The SD-60s were just about my favorite footwear of any kind, ever.

oh, I justs read-for-comprehension and realized you asked about the sandals. I don't have spd sandals, just the shoes. No idea what Quad sells sandal-wise or not.

I just noticed that, too! I haven't, but I'm curious.
