I need that Teenyman Triathlon, stat

Today he did. Yay Quinn!

Of course, as soon as we reached Somerville, he said immediately that he didn't want Mommy to drive him home, he wanted to bike back to Bedford with me. I am getting really curious to see what, if anything, will completely exhaust this boy.

I think he's still too young, but maybe in a few years! (http://www.minutemanyouthtriathlon.org/Home.html)

Yabbut, I'm convinced he could actually do that stuff in his sleep. I'm thinking I might try him out with doing each leg in turn and see if he follows through (e.g. runs and doesn't walk) and if he actually enjoys it, and if so, contact the organizers and see what they think.

So did he then ride up the path into Davis to where [livejournal.com profile] keyne was, and then back to Bedford? In either case, Go Quinn!!

I'm really looking forward to riding with Benjamin in a few years.

We did then ride up into Davis Sq. to [livejournal.com profile] dancingwolfgrrl's birthday brunch! He did not, however, stay in town with me to ride back, as I had plans to see Grindhouse this afternoon and even I wouldn't take my kids to see that.

It's tremendous fun. Do you have a back-of-the-bike seat for Benjamin? I started both my boys out with one of those and they really enjoyed it.

We have a trailer that was handed down from [livejournal.com profile] spinrabbit and family. Benjamin didn't like it much when we tried him in it last year, I think because the seatback is straight and his helmet pushed his head forward at an uncomfortable angle. I'm going to try putting a pillow or folded towel behind his back and see if that helps. (I'm not sure how useful a helmet is in a trailer, actually, so I might instead decide to skip the helmet.)

I've never liked back-of-the-bike seats, as I'd be worried about dropping the bike and slamming his head into the pavement.

Yeah, H was like that with her helmet in the trailer (and hated it). The trailer is really low to the ground and we decided the shoulder straps would be sufficient. She now loves the trailer and yells at us to get going when we take a rest stop :-)

I would say that I'm reminded of les Triplettes de Belleville, except that it's actually a rather sad (and very odd) movie.

Of course, now I have this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDsIUmJoD68) running through my head.

Oh hah! I hadn't even thought of that! Love that movie.
