Because I have a thing for reporters who lose their cool on the air, I have newly fallen in love with Mika Brzezinski, MSNBC Morning Joe anchor who refused to lead with a Paris Hilton story (three-minute YouTube clip, safe for work as long as your boss doesn't mind you watching video at your desk).  Wow wow wow.  I hope they give her a big frackin' promotion for that.

Props to [livejournal.com profile] extempore for bringing this one to my attention.

I can't believe how awesome that was. Normally I only get to see that sort of thing in an Aaron Sorkin show. Must go share with the Sorkinites.

There's some debate as to whether or not it was staged. Regardless, it was a worthy performance.

I saw someone saying that someone suggested that maybe it was staged. I do not take that seriously. :-)

There's certainly a bit of grandstanding in there, but her expression after the Paris Hilton footage... well, if she can fake that, she's in the wrong job.

Perhaps it was. If so, the reasonable conclusion is that MSNBC did it to gauge audience reaction. The more positive the reaction, the less Hilton coverage there will be. Which is all to the good.

Hmm... seems like it may have been staged? Hard to tell. But HEY, I won't knock the sentiment in any case. :)

On the cynical side of things - they still did the story, still played the video clips, filled in the same amount of air time, and get a lot of extra publicity.
