A Civil Action by Jonathan Harr. For some reason I didn't read this book when it came out, despite its boasting all of the elements that normally appeal to me: a legal thriller, nonfiction, the evil that corporations do, etc. I saw the movie instead and was pretty unimpressed.
The book is far superior. Harr does an excellent job of pacing the story and portrays each character vividly. When I watched the movie I didn't know the outcome and didn't find it compelling. Reading the book, I do know the outcome and still find it gripping. Highly worthwhile.
