How woozy is he?

He came back to life pretty quickly -- he was awake within a half-hour or so of getting out of surgery, and was ready to be discharged about 90 minutes later. We weren't even out of the hospital before we had to be shouting "NO RUNNING!"

They were piping a little humidified air onto his face as he woke up, but he was never wearing an oxy mask or anything like that. The nurse said it was just to keep his throat from drying out too much as he awoke.

They gave us some to take home. I hope he bounces back quickly.

Yeah, they gave us an extra Italian ice for the drive home just in case. Boy did he ever bounce back quickly. More soon.

Glad he's doing OK. How are his parents? I can only imagine how hard it must be to have a kid undergo a surgical procedure. *hugs*

His parents handled it a lot better than we expected, owing in large part to the supreme coyness and professionalism of the hospital staff (q.v.). I think we would be a lot more frazzled right now if we had had to do the tonsillectomy and were trying to keep him on bed rest for two weeks. But, Lord willing and Jesus tarries, we won't have to go there.
