Hard for me to resist a movie meme. This one:

Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
Post them here for everyone to guess.
Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.

And, obviously, no fair looking them up and then guessing. :-)

These quotes come just about verbatim from IMDb. I've changed them only to remove key characters' names. Ordered alphabetically by quote, and I've mostly avoided movies I've seen on other people's lists:

  1. Afraid this tea's pathetic. Must have used these wretched leaves about twenty times. It's not that I mind so much. Tea without milk is so uncivilized. The Great Escape ([livejournal.com profile] sonata960)
  2. All you're leaving is two dollars?
    That's fifteen percent.
    That's thirteen percent!
    Midnight Run ([livejournal.com profile] infinitehotel)
  3. But the key meeting took place July 3rd, 1958, when the Air Force brought the space visitor to the White House for an interview with President Eisenhower. And Ike said, "hey look, give us your technology, we'll give you all the cow lips you want." Sneakers ([livejournal.com profile] infinitehotel)
  4. He got $3,000,000 but he didn't get the rose bushes. I got the rose bushes. I definitely got the rose bushes. Those are rose bushes! Rain Man ([livejournal.com profile] crouchback)
  5. Human moves, kid. You study the watch... while I study you. The Color of Money ([livejournal.com profile] infinitehotel)
  6. I didn't ask for this role, but I'll play it. Now go do your best. Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid. Goethe said that. It's not too late for you to become a person of substance. Please get my son home safely. You know, I'm glad we spoke. Almost Famous ([livejournal.com profile] freecookiesnow)
  7. I've seen you at Mass almost every day for 23 years. The only person comes to church that much is the kind who can't forgive himself for something. Million Dollar Baby ([livejournal.com profile] creidylad)
  8. Look, I'm not allowed to talk to you. You know.
Yeah, well, I can understand, I'm a pretty dangerous character.
  9. Meet me in Montauk. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ([livejournal.com profile] badlittlemonkey)
  10. Wyoming isn't a country. Dog Day Afternoon ([livejournal.com profile] opadit)

Yes! It's so distinctive that it's probably not really an obscure quote, but I love that scene so much I couldn't pass it up.

One of my favorite scenes from my second most-favorite movie ever. Guess I won't use that quote when I put my quiz together, huh? :)

Good guess on #2, but no! (Heh, that confusion hadn't occurred to me)

Right on #9 :-)

Yay! That's one of the ones I thought might actually be a little too obscure. :-)

Yes! I had trouble choosing a good quote for this one (and reading the quotes made me want to watch the movie again).

#2 is "Midnight Run"?

Both 4 and 8 are, somewhat ironically, the only movies in this list that I've seen. I enjoyed them both immensely, too, although it's been a while since I've seen them. I think 8 was the only movie of the leading actor's that I liked of his.

So what is 8, then?

Well, are you going to *name* either of them? :-)

#8 was indeed the first movie of the leading actor's that I actually liked. But it was not the only one.

No, because I had to google both of them to know what they were for sure. :)

I haven't seen any of his movies since then, so it's possible there are more. You should tell me what you have liked, then, after this contest concludes!

Are you saying this after looking them up? 'cause you're the only person who seems to recognize #8 so far. :)

(I didn't, without Googling. But then I haven't seen more than a few minutes of it, either.)

It was bugging me so much I had to google it - too bad! One of the first efforts of the actors' which I enjoyed, as well.
