I'm a Netflix subscriber.  A lot of the movies I've been watching lately have been streamed directly to my laptop or TV.

Many of these movies appear to be licensed through STARZ Media on some kind of time-limited basis.  Sometimes after I add a movie to my queue, Netflix announces that that movie will only be available for instant viewing for a few more weeks.

I just noticed that of the 130 movies or so on my instant-viewing queue, about 30 will only be available until January 1.

Uh-oh.

Averaging out to about 2 hours per item, that is less than three days of viewing! And you have 16 days in which to fit it in! You're not even going to need to pull out a fake sick day to get it all done.

Wired wrote about this. What happens is that Netflix has to take them off when the Cable-exclusive window kicks in. The window lasts a couple of months.

I saw that too! Yes, I have to hurry up and watch "The Man with Two Brains" and "Westworld" while I still can!
