On my walk to the T this morning, I passed a flotilla of fire engines parked in a lot. The firefighters were all standing in a cluster near one of them, talking animatedly and diligently spraying a nearby tree. Sometimes for variety they sprayed the snow near the tree.

I was very puzzled and asked if they were the Arlington Snow-Making Committee. One of them explained to me that it's a truck they just bought used from another town and are now training up their guys on how to use the equipment.

It looked like lots of fun. Man, I love firefighters.

Groundhog or not, spring must be on the way, because just the phrase "Man, I love firefighters" turns out to be enough to inspire a brief Hot Firefighter daydream.

Also, it keeps the cats from climbing up the ice-slick trunk. An ounce of prevention...

firefighter training was one of the most fun, if a little nervewracking, things we did out on Star. so i bet those guys were having a great time :)
