department of parental embarrassment

On Saturday, took Morgan and Quinn to a local playground for a couple of hours. A woman had brought her ten-month-old daughter, so of course Morgan was cooing and fawning all over her, which the baby was enjoying immensely.

"He sure does like babies, doesn't he?" the woman asked her daughter.

"Morgan loves babies," I assured her.

"I only like some babies!" Morgan insisted, loudly. "As long as they're not too fat!"

oh boy.

Alas, no! I called the Aquarium a couple of times but no luck.

He's asked about it a couple of times and so far we've sort of evaded the question. He'll find out or he won't, I'm not too worried. :-)

Now *they* embarrass *you* in public...all too soon YOU will be embarrassing them, and with no more effort required than standing next to them and breathing. (teens and pre-teens are like that regardless of how normal or bizarre the parents.)

When last we were over, he was telling me he didn't like toddlers, which amused me, since he was once not to long ago.

I asked him if he didn't like Quinn, and he looked unhappy at me and said "Quinn is not a toddler! He's a baby!"

And queenmomcat is right: you'll get your revenge soon enough! Show up at a parent-teacher conference with no shirt on. Bwahahahaha!!!!

Oh, yeah! He actually went on at some length about it. "Like your baby," he told the woman. "She's not too fat." (The baby was skinny as a rail.)

Thank heavens she seemed to be almost as amused as I was.
