Two interviews that have come across my desk today from my childhood heroes:

From [livejournal.com profile] keyne , Berkeley Breathed, in VICE magazine, still saying things that leave me unable to figure out whether I'm being played or not:

I will say that Opus is really Scout from Mockingbird in many ways. He’s a motherless innocent, adrift and wandering about in an adult world of confusion, betrayal, and incivility. We experience it through both their eyes.

And, from [info]fraterrisusBill Watterson's first interview in more than twenty years:

I think some of the reason "Calvin and Hobbes" still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it.

One of my better gifts for my bro was the complete Calvin & Hobbes. It would have been my best gift if I'd figured out a way to give it to him without making him carry it home.

(And yes, following family tradition, I read it before I gave it to him.)

There was nothing in that Watterson interview that he hadn't said 20 years ago. I want to punch the interviewer in the gut for asking such lame questions.
