I suspect that what you mean here is "now that I'm aware of its origins and purposes", and I think it's unlikely that the school's procedures depend much on that. :-)
Um, no. I think it's perfectly possible for some parents[1] to complain that their children are involved in a phallic fertility display, and for the school to change the event because of the complaints.
[1] BTW, this now includes me since my kid goes to this school. But I'm not going to complain about it. Snigger, yes; complain, no.
