Election Night Plans
Nov. 1st, 2004 12:02 amSo! The official decision is: on Tuesday two rambunctious young boys and I will be watching the election returns out here in rainy Carlisle, starting at about 7pm, and we would be delighted to have your company.
We have cheese and crackers, hummus and veggies, similar snackables on hand. If a couple of you show up I may make pizza. If more than a couple of you show up, we may order pizza!
I will also have a modest supply of beer. Please feel free to bring your favorite beverage, alcoholic or non. Tempting as it is, I am not going to make a drinking game out of watching the results roll in, since y'all will have to drive home from our place. (We reserve the right to clap you in irons and call your boss in the morning if we think you've had enough. Besides, if we manage to throw Bush out on his ear, the hell with it, we're drinking all night anyway and making waffles in the morning.)
Ellen will probably be around, but hers is a safe space from election talk. If you find yourself needing to decompress she would be happy to talk with you about something other than the elections.
And remember the house rule: if you bring diet soda into this house, expect to take it with you when you leave.
I think that's about it. Holler if you think you'll be there. Or just show up. Really, we're not picky.
