We met someone new on Thursday night. primal_pastry and wiley_b brought her over to our house for dinner, and the whole family really hit it off with her. So she came over again on Friday and even spent the night. Both Ellen and I are falling rapidly in love with her, omegabeth and jacflash have officially approved and even the kids are getting along with her magnificently.

Her name is Sappho, and it looks like she's going to be with us for a long time.

	Okay, so it was a cheesy gimmick. Permit me a little editorial license for sappiness. But if I ever give my dog her own LiveJournal account or e-mail address, I hope that one of you will have the mercy to shoot me.

I've found that golden retrievers are usually quite bright, at least the ones I and my family have owned. The only dumb one I ever ran into was male (the ones we had were female).

But yes, she is pretty. And they're very patient dogs, usually very good around kids.

Her previous family say, and we seem to be seeing, that she really isn't that bright. :} Sweet-tempered, though, and up to dealing with the challenge of our 3yo, which is the important thing.
