Several weeks after I wrote that caption, I found this in a pile of papers on Morgan's desk:

Written faintly in pencil at the very top is the world "catepult." The observant reader will note "basket with handele", "thin pice of wood," "thick pice of wood," and off in the distance, the villain, "Rachile".

I am thinking that we are going to have to either raise or lower his allowance, but I'm not yet sure which.

I think the details of what he's planning to catapult the evil Rachile with should figure into your calculations.

It seems to say only "balls." (Insert whatever joke you find appropriate here.)

But I forgot to point out the inclusion of the most important building material ever -- tape! In at least two places!

We should give him a roll of duct tape for his birthday.

Rolls of scotch tape were my sister's favorite toy for a while. Duct hurts more on skin ;)

That's a great photo. It looks like a children's book illustration.

Specifically, a Great Brain illustration. :D

It is a fantastic pic.

The first photo reminds me much more of The Great Brain than the diagram does. My recollection of The Great Brain was that Tom was a social engineer but not a scientific one -- a "scheming and conniving" sort, an expert at psychology and politics, but not particularly concerned with mechanics or physics.

I was really just amused that my initial off-the-cuff assessment of this photo turned out to hit so close to the mark. I had not anticipated that he really was designing weapons of mass destruction (or, at least, weapons of rachile destruction) when we were not looking.

Yeah, I meant the first photo. It is great.

My mom has the first comic book I ever made. With my brother. I must have been under 7, he must have been under 5, because it was before he left Chicago.

It was a list of all the ways we could think of to kill the little sister of a friend of mine.

Ah, the innocence of children. ^___^

Don't forget Tom's carving of the key(s)... I think he had some mechanical/physical genius, too.

Though I don't recall him designing or using siege weaponry, it depends on how large Rachile is, whether this is truly inappropriate...

But now -- it lies to you to either creatively file this diagram, or to "correct" it in interesting ways -- or to join him in his efforts, so that he has the Best Catapult Evar.

I think you should start giving him his allowance in diamonds that fell off a truck.
