odometer: (as of last Friday) 137.2 miles.  It's a new bike computer, and the old one kinda died, so I couldn't pull my odo reading off from it. :-)

Must remember to layer appropriately.  If the temperature is above 50 degrees or so, a light sweatshirt and a windbreaker are TOO MUCH!  This is hard to believe, but I keep getting to work sweating like a hog.

I keep leaving my house wearing a jacket (or two) and arriving at work in a tank top and maybe some gloves. This winter is so fake.

Are you biking the whole 21 miles?

Sweet jumpin' jehosaphat, no. Right now I'm biking 4.5 miles, from Arlington. I would be biking from Bedford, but I stupidly lost my headlight battery a couple of weeks ago and the replacement is on backorder. Even then it would only be 14 miles each way -- I think it would be a long long time, if ever, before I considered riding 21 miles each way to work on a regular basis. I just don't have the speed for it :-)

"Only" 14 miles my eye. But I hear you -- I would go insane losing a chunk of time that big every day. If you do get to 17mph, though, you'll be able to ride all the way to Akamai as quickly as I ride to Dedham now.

When you ride to/from Bedford in the dark, do you take the trail or the road? I take the road, 'cause I worry about the trail's skeeviness.

Well, "only" 14 miles as compared with the 21 miles from my doorstep. :-) And remember, that ride only adds a total of 15-20 minutes to my trip each way.

Most of the time I only take the trail between Bedford and Lexington, so I don't have to negotiate the sprawling horror of the 225 / 128 interchange. The rest of the way I just take down Mass Ave. straight through Lexington and Arlington. I do get a little nervous about being alone on the trail in the dark, but I think the real danger is that if I injured myself and knocked myself out or otherwise couldn't move, I wouldn't be discovered till the next day.

Anyway, I'm off the trail entirely until Performance Bike gets around to shipping a replacement headlight battery. Suckage!
