The infamous chocolate cranberry cake: chocolate cake with a cranberry filling and chocolate glaze. Sugared cranberries and mint on top. It worked out even better than I expected: the cake was extremely dense (three times as much butter as flour) and the cranberry was sweet enough that it didn't clash.

Date: 2009-11-27 03:40 pm (UTC)Read it through thoroughly beforehand -- we didn't and were surprised, at 1 am, by stuff like "a fine-mesh sieve" we'd forgotten to track down. :}
Also, we used Maraschino liqueur (http://www.cocktaildb.com/ingr_detail?id=170) in place of "orange liqueur or dark rum"; it worked very well, and I recommend it if you have some.
