My sister-in-law moved to India last week and is presently in Mumbai.  She hadn't yet sent us contact information for where she's staying now.  We tried her cell, but it's a US cell phone and we have no idea whether it's likely to work over there.

[livejournal.com profile] keyne has found the Mumbai Police web site, but we can't read the script in the list of casualties: http://www.mumbaipolice.org/images/news_cp/blast/blast.htm

Anyone have better leads on how to find a list of injured or dead in a Roman alphabet?

[ EDIT: I found http://mumbaihelp.blogspot.com/, which seems like a good start, but still looking for something more official... ]

[ EDIT 2: Congressman Meehan's office checked with the State Dept. No American casualties in Mumbai. 202 647 5225 is the State Dept. contact if we want to call back later, but they're "pretty confident" now. ]

Oh, how awful.

My sister was in the Peace Corps in Haiti when Duvalier was overthrown in 1986, and she was in Cap-Haitien, where all the trouble started. We didn't hear from her for two weeks. That sucked. :-(

(she was fine; they evacuated her to Port-au-Prince, but communications were iffy for a long time.)
